How would finish that sentence?
Summer is… fun.
Summer is… hot.
Summer is…sleeping in.
Summer is…no homework.
Today – in my house – summer is, well… over.
Now most parents are lamenting over their children being back in school – at least outwardly to their friends, on social media, etc.
But I know a secret – most parents – especially the mommas – scream an abnormally loud HALLELUJAH!!! the minute the school bus is out of earshot. Summers are wonderful, no doubt. I mean, a momma can only take so many school projects, morning mania and fundraisers. But once you’ve been on a trip or two, visited every pool in the area, gone bowling, been to a theme park and seen every movie possible – well, your momma store of fun simply shuts down.
So I’m fairly certain that most mommas are happy to get back in a routine and have 5 solid minutes of peace to themselves and keep a pantry stocked longer than 24 hours. And now that we have all this “free time” what will we do? Be the president of the PTO? Be a room mother? Call friends we’ve neglected since our sophomore in high school was in kindergarten? Serve at church? Work at the food bank?
The opportunities to say “YES,” to fill our calendars with obligations are endless.
One suggestion: consult the Master Scheduler first, before you say yes to the next “priority.”
